As a Counsellor at DaySpring you will work within a team environment referred to as a Treatment team. You will provide weekly counselling with individual girls within the home, run various group therapies, and provide ongoing family sessions with residents’ families.

Responsibilities:
- Subject preparation, delivery and administration
- Compilation of student results for each subject each study period
- Supervision of postgraduate research projects
- Report to and communicate with coordinator of subjects
- Provide academic advice to students as and when required by Campus Dean
- Facilitate practicum placement for students
- Build and sustain partnerships in the community for JCUS practicum placements
- Provide pastoral care that occurs from time to time
- Ensure all operations accord with established JCUS procedures, policies and established practices.
- Involvement in marketing activities that occur from time to time
- Support with the MGC alumni network
- Other duties as determined from time to time by JCUS management
Key Selection Criteria
- Current member of Singapore Association for Counselling (or equivalent association)
- Award of Doctorate or equivalent research degree
- Broad experience in counselling, including career development counselling
- Proven track record with counselling practicum supervision
- Understanding of contemporary issues in guidance and counselling and capacity to provide academic leadership to deliver postgraduate education of the highest quality;
- Excellent management skills and demonstrated capacity to undertake administrative duties consistent with the postgraduate programs' growth and development;
- Proven excellent time management, problem solving and computer skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Understanding of practicum concept in Guidance and Counselling within Singapore context
- Ability to forge strong collaborative links with practicum supervisors and contribute to the growth of the profession in the region;
- Demonstrated track record in high quality research in an area relevant to guidance and counselling

This position forms part of the James Cook University MGC team and reports directly to the Campus Dean.

Senior / Counsellor
The Challenges
As a Senior / Counsellor in the National Addictions Management Service, you will review all clinical, medical, psychosocial and other relevant data in your assessment of clients. You will be required to formulate a provisional diagnosis, and enlist your patient’s cooperation in developing a treatment plan. You will also mobilize the relevant resources and services your patients require.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary setting led by the physician, and will be required to communicate and consult with nurses and allied health workers as well. For both inpatients and outpatients, you will be required to conduct individual and group programmes, as well as work with their families.
Your duties include reviewing counselling practices and setting high standards of quality care through individual or peer supervision. An essential component of your work entails assisting the department in evaluating and improving patient services which necessarily include the capturing of clinical outcome measures and any other data required by the department.
Training in addictions for both internal and external professional staff is an important part of your work, as is the delivery of educational talks to the public.
The Requirements
- Minimum a Bachelor degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Nursing or related discipline with relevant work experience. A Master degree would be preferred.
- Basic knowledge of PC applications (Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Experience in gambling addiction counselling will be an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Remuneration will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The NATIONAL ADDICTIONS MANAGEMENT SERVICE (NAMS) is the leading provider of treatment for problem gambling, substance abuse, and other addictive behaviours. A full time position as a Helpline Para-counsellor is available for qualified applicants who wish to be part of a fast growing mental health organization that offers excellent opportunities for training and professional development.
Successful applicants will be answering calls from the public and other healthcare professionals about problem gambling and other addictions. The Helpline Para-counsellor will assess each call to determine the caller’s needs, provide accurate information, counselling and support if required, and refer callers to appropriate services in the community. In addition, the Helpline Para-counsellor will work with a multidisciplinary team consisting of medical, nursing and allied health professionals. Ongoing training and supervision will be provided to enhance skills and knowledge. Working hours are 12.30pm to 10pm, Mondays to Fridays.
